A victim of his own success?

If two relegations and boring football is what you call success then your right.

On the other hand if the luck of the draw in every round of a cup competition is what you call success then you're right.

Drawing Villa, Westham and Arsenal on the way to winning the cup is hardly luck is it. I知 on the fence with regards to him staying but that statement is just rubbish.

West Ham were bottom and in Avram Grant they were leaderless and demoralised. Viilla was a home tie and at the time they were ravaged with injuries. Before that Rochdale, MK and Brentford at home.

Lucky lucky lucky.

You stay sitting on the fence if that's what floats your boat, but watch out for any splinters you might get on your buttocks.

Next it will be because Arsenal had that big Dutch centre half fellah out, they didn't have a decent goalie and Jack Wileshire had a headache on the day of the game

Yes, we were very lucky indeed to win the Carling Cup

...and I suppose he was unlucky to have relegated us, not once but twice.

How on earth people can think McLeish will get us promoted again playing differently. He only knows the negative way and if he tried to change he wouldn't be successful.

For me he has got to go. The Board were suckered naively into extending his contrat last October and now they can't afford to pay him off.

McLeish is another Marcus Bent...............a drain on our resouces.

I think some people could be justified in their claims that, in winning the Cup, Blues didn't exactly set the world alight!

They flattered to decieve beating Rochdale and MK Dons - an injury-time equaliser at home to Brentford before winning on the lottery of penalties. Home to the Vile (who were below us in the league and ravaged by injuries) and then West Ham... lost the away leg to 10 men and scraped through in extra time against a team who were bottom of the table and arguably the worst team in the Premier League this season.

Don't get me wrong... they played their hearts out in the final but you have to admit - our winner was a massive stroke of luck.

Ask anyone from Greece whether they are bothered that luck and 'negative' football enabled them to win Euro 2004?

For that matter, name me any one single solitary team that has won any trophy in history without an element of luck playing its part on the way.

Yes, we had elements of luck in our cup win.

So what?

These things even themselves out. Yes, it was lucky, but Arsenal were also very lucky not to have had their goalie sent off and concede a penalty.

Fahey was also unlucky not to have scored when he hit the post and it rolled the other side.

They won that day and deserved it.

Anyway he had is luck in the cup but we won it, fair dos..............but he has imposed the most boring football upon us for three years and he has relegated us twice in three years. Absolutely sacking material anywhere else..................but our board made the grave mistake of extending his contract and now they cannot afford his compensation.

What a mess and more infuriating was McLeish's smugness in that interview after the game "I have a contract, I won't be going anywhere.." it was said with such smugness with him knowing he can't be sacked.

I don't dislike AM and believe that he does his level best for BUT his brand of football is not what I really want to see all the time and it has to change if he wants to keep his job. We have to attack more, not sit back hoping for a 0-0 draw, players know how to attack and shoot so it must be encouraged by the management. We must not give too much respect to teams like we did last season and go for it,surely AM has that somewhere in his locker otherwise we won't come back up as the championship is becoming a Premier league 2 with the teams in it now.
